While I am not an opera singer, I have done quite a bit of singing in full Elizabethan court dress over the past 20 years; I have no trouble projecting a considerable distance out of doors (and making echoes indoors). One thing the corseting does is keep your posture upright, which makes it easier to support your breathing for singing. This, of course, assumes that your corset is properly fitted and worn correctly (snug enough for support and not so tight that breathing is difficult).
