Of course it's Nutcracker time. I like the unorthodox Ballet West film of it
with Maurice Sendak designs. The Arabian dance is turned into a peacock
dancing....danced by the same dancer who plays Clara's mother.at the Act I
party. I love that. Great costumes and stage magic!
And there's Mark Morris' "The Hard Nut"...also on film. He puts it in the
1950s. The "Waltz of the Flowers" becomes the waltz of the house plants....that
need watering. Too much fun!
