Tissue paper is the thin paper used for wrapping gifts.  I would think
calico (what we Americans call muslin) would work just as well, if not better.
Tissue paper isn't very sturdy and might tear before you were done  with your
work.


You could also use plain cotton bias binding, as this is also less likely to tear than tissue.
