I am a bit behind with this thread, but besides the ordinary press cloth,
there are some new tech stuff that helps to handle the pressing needs of
contemporary fibers. All of these I originally discovered in the Clotilde
catalogue.
1. A teflon pressing sheet about 14x24". This is wonderful if you are
trying to use any of the bonding fibers. It will take a fairly high heat.
(Be sure and not store it absentmindedly with other heaps of Plastic)
2. There is a nylon(?) or maybe teflon mesh sheet about the same size as
the above item. It is bound in blue, but looks something like a mesh
laundry bag for delicate. This is a favorite for wools, rayon crepes, other
delicate fabrics like polychiffon. It allows you to see exactly what you
are trying to press, prevents shininess or scorching.
3.A special cloth for press ing trousers or such is a treated cloth that
looks like any odd piece of cotton broadcloth but helps especially when
changing press lines on hems.
