I was at both the Palazzo Te & Palazzo Ducale in Mantova this summer.
I was not impressed with the collection or the staff in either
location. There was no catalog for sale either. Apparently the
Gonzaga heirs quietly got rid of/ sold off all the stuff. There's
nearly nothing remaining of the once vast collections. The city owns
both palazzos and runs one as a museum, the other as a semi-outdoor
concert space. There had been one the nite before; the place was
absolutely trashy. Some of the frescoes remain, others are in the
early stages of restoration. A whole lot of work remains. Someday it
will be a lovely site, I hope.

As for the paintings, the gown is quite similar to most every other
one in the 1560s. I'm sure you'll find something equally wonderful, if
not more so.
