Hi, sorry for the crossposting.
In Revolution in Fashion on page 100 there is a pair of stays wich always has made me wonder how it was worn. Its a covered pair of stays very beautifully covered with a floral brocade. It has tied on sleaves and it closes in the center front with lacing. Only the tabs are not covered with brokade. My gues is that it was worn to show. But how would they put the skirt to it. If only the tabs are going to be hided under the skirt, you would have to have the skirt opening very big. How would they have kept the skirt in place?
Could the skirt have ben pinned to the tabs somehow?
I definately think it was supposed to show the full busk piece in the front, it would be a shame to hide it away under a skirt.
This has always made me wonder how on earth it would have ben worn.
Could someone please enlightening me?
