I have two lesser-known favorite museums in London, neither of them have
textile stuff but they're still quite fun:

1) The Geffrye Museum (http://www.geffrye-museum.org.uk/) which is a museum of
interiors -- it's got a room decorated in the style from the reign of each
major monarch starting at about 1600 (I can't remember if it includes Elizabeth
I or not...). The museum itself is in the suburbs of London.

2) Sir John Soane's Museum (http://www.soane.org/) which is the house of a
regency architect (quite lovely) and includes his painting collection (which
has the complete Rake's Progress by Hogarth in oils!) and his Egyptian mummy!

Hope that helps,
        -sunny
