The caption says that the outfit is "with sash and mask", not that it is FOR a masque. Presumably the mask is the black thing in her right hand. In this period riding habits were often made with the upper half exactly like men's clothing - Pepys mentions it as a new fashion in the 1660s. Sashes were commonly worn by army officers earlier in the century, either round the waist or diagonally, and were worn by civilians to give themselves a dashing, military appearance.
