Count Richelieu's gloves intrigue me. Are there examples of knitted
gloves *before* 1600?

There's a pair of red knitted silk and metal thread 15th-century pontifical gloves and one silk and metal knitted 13th-century archbishop's glove in Textile Conservation and Research by Mechtild Flury-Lemberg.
