Like Wagner. That scene where the rose is presented is amazing! I hate opera English....unless it was originally written in English. I mean, half the time you can't understand the English anyway. I don't mind supertitles at all. And I love the little back of the seat thingies at the Met. Some good operas in English: Dido & Aeneas....Purcell Semile....Handel The Rake's Progress....Stravinsky Billy Budd.....Britten Rosa......Andreissen Einstein on the Beach......Glass Wait....do solfeg syllables count as English? I'm kidding. I like "Einstein on the Beach" but like with R Strauss, you have to prepare for it....and Glass, of whom I only like a few things. _______________________________________________ h-costume mailing list [email protected] http://mail.indra.com/mailman/listinfo/h-costume
