I Like "Der Rosenkavelier" but you have to be prepared for it. Like Wagner. 
That scene where the rose is presented is amazing!

I hate opera English....unless it was originally written in English. I mean, 
half the time you can't understand the English anyway. I don't mind 
supertitles at all. And I love the little back of the seat thingies at the Met.

Some good operas in English:

Dido & Aeneas....Purcell
Semile....Handel
The Rake's Progress....Stravinsky
Billy Budd.....Britten
Rosa......Andreissen
Einstein on the Beach......Glass  Wait....do solfeg syllables count as 
English? I'm kidding. I like "Einstein on the Beach" but like with R Strauss, 
you 
have to prepare for it....and Glass, of whom I only like a few things.
