When I'm working at home, I get up with my family at 6ish and get ready for work as usual. When they leave the house, I go down stairs. My shop and the computer room are adjoining, I go about my day as if I were at the museum...check email while the iron is heating up, then into the 'shoe' for the day. Pierre comes home for lunch and I stop while he's home, then I stop for the day when the family gets home. The only night when I work is monday, I have students over. I don't work weekends or in the evenings. If I don't bring laundry down with me in the morning, it doesn't get done, that, and I hate housework, so it's a little easier for me.

Since I can't figure out the TV in the living room by myself, I don't turn it on, so have gotten used to the idea of not watching TV until I'm off to bed at night. Pierre's an eletronics guru...his TV system makes my profession sewing room look like it's in the dark ages ;-)

My main point is, the getting up and preparing for work as you would outside the home. If you can have the space to set up your shop properly and go there as you would an office, it's much easier.
Deadlines help too!

I got to wondering if other people have special
rituals or procedures they do to separate their time,
particularly those who work at home.

You never know what useful info could come up, so I
hope you forgive this meander slightly OT.

Thanks,
Katherine
