<< but I'm hopeless at drafting (partly because I have trouble getting somebody to do accurate measurements for me) or enlarging patterns>>
Sigh unfortunately I had to learn to draft because I am a really odd shape, even taking into account the fact that commercial patterns are based on an ideal standard. I'm a size 14 in commercial patterns, my main measurements are pretty close (hips waist, bust) but most of my bust measurement is from my ribcage. It makes for a very tricky fit even for professional seamstresses. Been there, realised I know my own body best had a very steep learning curve in pattern drafting;) Good commercial patterns though I *love* because it helps those who cannot draft or drape, and it's all about being able to look at the pretties;). I have to keep reminding myself that the mathematical aspect of sewing isn't as easy for everyone. Just as I don't do embroidery and others can whip through that aspect with amazing results;) michaela http://costumes.glittersweet.com -- No virus found in this outgoing message.
