I *know* I've seen that hat on Regency Era fashion plates but I can't recall where or what years. But I know I saw the hat. It was very stylish. I checked both http://fashion-era.com/regency_taste.htm and http://www.songsmyth.com/index.html and couldn't find it however. But it wasn't a hat as well known as a turban but it was indeed popular enough to be seen in a fashion plate..as I recall the versions I saw were in colors as well. Reds, yellows and white.
