NEW ONLINE RESOURCE

A new research resource for 16th Century dress is now
online. A pilot database of images is available at:
http://www.jmdsrv1.dyndns.org/tudoreffigies. Compiled by Dr.
JANE MALCOLM-DAVIES [International Region VIII] of the
Winchester School of Art, this is the first stage of a
proposed project to photograph and disseminate images of
Tudor effigies in UK churches. The pilot database contains
44 effigies with photographs of items and features of dress.
This represents about two per cent of the material that
could be compiled. Eventually, each effigy and its details
will have a description with appropriate 16th Century terms
and an explanation of how they were worn. Feedback on the
database will help with continued funding for the project.
