That is actually an old horsecopers trick. You give the horse a small amount of arsenic everyday untill you are ready to sell it. The ´horse will react to the arsenic by getting fat and the skin will get glossy, once the horse is sold the horse will lose weight and the arsenic stored in the fat will be released into the body causing death.
