H-costumers,
A friend just came back from a trip to Spain & reported .a new costume
museum in Madrid; it just opened in 2004. There's very very little
from before the 18th c, but what there is, is new & interesting.

On the side bar click: indumentaria histórica
Noodle around and you will find an unusual sleeveless woman's doublet
(jubon femenino) circa 1590-1620. I've never seen this particular
garment before. The stripey skirtings are really fun. It reminded me
of the red & white arches of Seville cathedral.
There's also an early pocket, I think, under the "joyeria" (jewelry)
section with what may be couched silver thread. Pretty, but a very
small picture.
