Any suggestions how I can safely get rid of the stuff without ruining the finish on the leather? I *have* found another, better place to store the stuff so this won't happen again. When we moved to Mississippi, many of my shoes and all the leather bindings on my encyclopias molded. I wiped everything down with rubbing alcohol, put them out in the sun, and then made sure I ran the air conditioner through the humid weather! I would spot test with the alcohol to make sure it didn't damage your items, but mine came through fine.
