I thought that too.

Speaking of dumb decisions, I just saw "Last of the Mohicans." I could believe it when the Indian said he was the "last" at the end, because almost everybody else in the film had gotten colorfully killed. That's what the whole film was about.

But anyway:

Here are two teenage girls fresh out from England, with the frontiersman Hawkeye and his adoptive Mohican father and brother, escorting the girls to their father's fort. They get near the fort, sneaking up through the woods at night, and discover from distance that it's under siege. The area around it looks and sounds like the Fourth of July. (I know they didn't have the Fourth of July then, well they did but it wasn't the Fourth of July; well you know what I mean.)

At this point I would have turned around to my guides and said, "You know this area, is there anyplace we can hole up safely till this battle is all over?" No--they go right in!

I haven't read the book, which hopefully explains things like this. But in the film, I thought they were idiots.

I thought. "Hey....couldn't your daughter use that?!" Well Rose couldn't make a decent decision in 1912, why would she now?
