As none of you probably know yet, I've been hired by Fashion Fabrics Club to overhaul their website. We're starting with everything BUT the appearance--recategorizing the fabrics, making it easier for people to figure out what they're looking for, adding static content, and a lot more.
To that end, I have the owner's permission to ask those who are knowledgeable about fabric, sewing, home decorating, and costuming for articles which will appear on the website. There will be no direct payment, but contributors will be offered a nice discount, a very large audience, and if applicable, a bit of free advertisement for your products and/or services. Articles don't necessarily need to have anything to do with historical costume. They need only have something to do with fabric: fabric care, choosing the right fabric, project ideas/instructions, writeups on previous projects, and so on. If anyone is interested in participating, please email me off-list. I can't promise to take every single article offered, as I want to keep a good balance of subject matter and avoid repetition, but all articles or article ideas will certainly be considered. (You might want to run the topic by me before spending hours writing an article that I can't use!) As an example, one of the first articles I'd like to add to the website is one about wool 'allergies': how to deal with an actual allergy to lanolin, how to deal with itchiness due to scratchy fibers, and how to avoid irritation caused by chemical fabric treatments. Also, in the next few months we'll need beta-testers and people willing to take surveys. Payment in the form of a nice discount will be offered for this, as well. If the list-mom allows, I'll post again here when we're ready for that. -E House _______________________________________________ h-costume mailing list [email protected] http://mail.indra.com/mailman/listinfo/h-costume
