Thanks Talia - never considered a white belt, or the other things, only the chain.

My hostess is going to ask the appropriate person in her "group" for want of a better word, and let me know. That seems the safest solution, and best all round. I feel very honoured to be invited, and had no idea there might be sumptuary laws, so I am glad to have found out in time.

Thank you for the warning. I think as we are "foreign" visitors, and
have been specially invited to the event as guests, we may well not
have a problem. However, I will check with my hostess.
