You might want to ask whoever you bought your computer from some computer DVD drives are programmed to do a set number of switches between different regions before it locks and the counter has to be reset by a professional. So if for example your DVD drive is set to do 3 switches before it locks (though the number won't actually be that low) and you have region 1 and region 2 DVDs you want to play on your computer if you play the region 1 DVD followed by the region 2 DVD that's one switch, then next time you play a region 1 DVD you're up to two switches then playing one more region 1 DVD is your third switch, at this point your computer will only play region 1 DVDs until you take it in to be serviced (in some cases it's a program in the computer which is keeping count and somebody with technical knowledge could probably work out how to reset it but other times it's the actual DVD drive itself and there's a physical switch which needs to be reset manually)
