Both stores are on the Eastern side of the Willamette river (that's
Will-am-ut, not Will-ha-met) river in Portland, Oregon. Both are huge,
about a city block square. Mill Ends is off McLoughlin Blvd, and south
towards Milwaukie (sorry, but the spelling is our very own). It has the
extra added attraction of being near a Pendleton outlet store as well.

That outlet store has wool on spindles for weaving, Untra-Suade for $15.00 a
yard, and fabric that runs about $10 a yard - what you see is what you get.
Other than that they have almost anything you might want to make something
like BUTTONS!

Fabric Depot (Despot) is located on the eastern side of the city on 122nd
Avenue and Stark (numbered streets run north and south, named ones
east/west) and has the lovely habit of allowing you to order or buy in
bolts, boxes, full whatevers and then giving you an automatic 40% off. I
buy pins by the 5 pound box. Since they don't have to put them on those
little hooks, they pass the savings on to us. They also carry spiral
boning, hoop wire, solid boning and front opening busks now as well as
almost anything else you might want.

Washougal, Washington is just across the I 205 bridge and a bit east from
Portland/Vancouver. It has the BIG Pendleton outlet store. What you see is
what you get. I picked up 15 yards of light as a feather light, dark teal,
100% Pendleton wool on the remnant table for $1.50 a yard. It is in several
pieces but I can deal with that! Also has a huge crate full of buttons -
oh, and seconds and older model Pendleton clothing for mundane wear.

Look up www.mapquest . Put in Portland, Oregon - Washougal, Washington -
Milwaukie, Oregon and there you have us.
