I've *never* been to New York. If there was only *one* thing that you
would do while in NY -- fiber/garb/SCA general related (and the
symposium > that I need to attend is Saturday Morning), what would you do?
Susan
One thing is too hard... here's my short Manhattan list:
The costume collections at the MET & whatever's on show at FIT
(Fashion Inst). The fashion bookstore just down the block from FIT.
The bookstore at the MET, but dont do this til you're heading back to
the hotel. Books are heavy.
Power shop 42nd St where all the (formerly huge but now a ghost of its
old self) garment district fabric stores have, by and large,
relocated. I had you down for Victorian, but you say you're SCA. Yup,
go to the Cloisters for the stuff, but there's not much fabric there.
It can be a disappointment if you've ever been to a real cloisters or
medaeval castle.
If you're arriving Fri afternoon/nite, visit Half-price Tickets at
Times Square and see a costume-heavy show!
