They're mostly there to be slept with or rescued, and although a bit pants in terms of accuracy, the clothes do reflect that quite well (eg demure and white for the rescu-ees, and flamenco-esque for sharpe's mrs)! The military uniforms are quite accurate for the principles (of course they're awful for the extras, if you can be bothered to look that closely). That said - if you get the chance, check out the back of Sharpes officers dolman in the Indian ep that was shown over here a while ago.
