My family recently received a handkerchief that my grandfather gave one of
his sisters about 89 years ago. It is printed on with a picture and poem
written on it. I was thinking about displaying it in a shadow box. None of
us
are for sure what the fiber is but it is shiny and thin--it doesn't feel or
look like cotton and some thought maybe it was silk. Any suggestions on
displaying it besides use non-acid materials, don't let the glass touch it and
keep
out of direct sunlight. The lady who gave it is a descendant of the one it
was originally give to and thought she was helping by having it dry cleaned
before giving it to us. Do I need to do anything about that before displaying
it so that it will last a long time.
Thanks for your advice.
