Take a "Swiffer" duster, fluff it as the directions say, then spray paint it
red. Hot melt glue to helmets. The paint should make it stiff. Or just use
them unpainted for a softer look.

Subject: [h-cost] Roman Soldiers

Here's an interesting problem we could use your
collective input on:

I ran into a woman I know yesterday and she presented
me with an interesting question. Seems she has taken
over the costumes for a local Bethlehem Walk and is in
a little bit of a panic.

A little background - a Bethlehem Walk is scenes from
the life of Jesus. This particular one is presented by
a group of about 10 country churches here in my little
corner of Southeastern Ohio. Many of the churches are
lucky if they have a congregation of more than 20
folks.

They aren't interested in historical accuracy just
general impression - since none of the audience stays
in one place for more than a couple minutes as they
walk past the setting. Plus the Walk takes place
outside in the evenings over Thanksgiving weekend. So
it is pretty dark and the players are generally
bundled up under all their robes.

All that said, the major frustration at the moment is
the helmets for the Roman soldiers. Currently they are
using baseball batting helmets worn backwards with -
get this - red feather boas glued across the top.
There is nothing to be done about the helmets - they
were donated and there is no money to replace them -
but the feathers across the top seem to have molted
terribly over the summer.

So the question is - Any ideas for cheap, easy to
apply replacements for the boas?

Any ideas will be greatfully accepted.

Thanks
