OK--this was my first thought: Well, why don't we *ALL* do it--working together! A Costume Wkipedia! Those who are experts in one time period would write what they know about best. Just like 'Wiki,' anyone else could contribute or edit. I don't know if the Wiki owners run into contibutors arguing about what's right and what's wrong, and what's proven and what's hearsay/theory. It *could* happen--knowing how things can get around here! ;-) And of course it would mean no income for an author, but it would be a great contribution to the "knowledge-base."
But then I stopped and realized: This is what Penny is doing with the Costume Gallery and what Tara McGinnis is doing with the Costumer's Manifesto. However we could still all work together on something in book-form if we had someone willing to be the editor! It's a dream, Can it come true? Of course they are all too general to people like us who specialize in historical costumes, but sometime you really need just a good overview, which is what I need now.
