I started watching the show a couple of months ago. I'm no prude but the length and breadth of the swearing in the first episode made my ears curl!
Still, it's growing on me, and I wondered too about the language. It turns out that the use of modern profanity is a deliberate choice on the part of the creator: they tried using "period" swear words and to a modern audience they sounded funny rather than the shocking effect they were aiming for.
