Dear Chiara,
Many thanks for your informations.
The Dorset button i wanted to use, is a button made from linnen thread. You make a loop of threads wrapped several times, and makes buttonhole stitches over the wrapped threads. And you make "bars" over the top, to connect the ring. I have made same buttons of my white linnen shirt. And it buttons on the inner wrist, so you would not notice it much. Would be difficult to find a small button mould in this size, so i will settle with the Dorset button.
Many thanks for your informations, you are the expert of gloves.

Bjarne

Formal settings required the use of white gloves, do not stain them.
Let be white.

In the Victoria and Albert museum there are several examples of
white gloves from this period. It may take me a bit to find the ones
with the button closure. If you can access their website you should
be able to look for them too.

Bath Museum has images as well.

I will see what I can find but if you or anyone else finds them
first please post urls. :)

What is your time period of reenactment?

That will drive what kind of button/button hole and color.

Hi,
I have baught myself a pair of white gloves, the type that high
rank
officers uses here in Denmark for formal occations.
I wanted to use them for my reenacting, but i wondered.
They have velcro tape at the inner wrist, wich i will remove off
cause,
should i make a dorset button and buttonhole instead?
What about the white ness of them, they are bright white, should
i
dip them
in tea?

Any suggestions very much apreciated..........
