The Jessica McClintock line was the high status symbol when I was in
high school. (Class of '75) They were fairly expensive, ranging from
$70 -150 when most junior styles were half that. There were both
casual day styles and evening/prom/bridal versions, but only the
really rich girls wore them for school. I only had one, because
the largest they came was size 15, and those were really hard to
find. Mine was a street length navy calico with pale blue satin
ribbon trim, that was uncomfortably tight, but I was thrilled to fit
into it.
In the 80's I used to go to the JM outlet store in San Francisco to
buy fabric and lace--great deals! Are they still there?
