I know this isn't much help, but while browsing the NIST NCSC (National
Institute of Standards and Technology, National Center for Standards and
Certification) webpage
http://ts.nist.gov/Standards/Conformity/ncsci.cfm. It seems that the US
Apparel standards have been withdrawn... On the Other hand the US Breau
of Standards, Weights and Measures has been replaced by the above
organization, so you can start there for information. On their webpage
they have the sizing standards for young children, boys, girls, young
men and women, nothing for men
(http://ts.nist.gov/Standards/Conformity/withdrawnstds.cfm). You could
try contacting them here:
http://ts.nist.gov/Standards/Conformity/contact.cfm
If you don't mind spending money, you could try and obtain a copy of the
ISO clothing size standards
http://www.iso.org/iso/en/CatalogueListPage.CatalogueList?ICS1=61&ICS2=20&ICS3=&scopelist=,
but they are far too expensive for my taste.
Hope this helps,

Thanks to those who responded with suggestions. I apologize for not making my
needs clear. I can draft pajamas for elephants if need be. I'm just tired of
having to start from scratch on these guys each time they are cast for anything
that requires dress prior to 1850.
I always re-measure an actor for several reasons. In commercial patterns,
usually based on the measures of the US Bureau of standards, Weights and
Measures, I'm not finding sizes above 48. XL,XXL,XXXL are not consistent over
brands. In order to draft Basic Patterns in sizes 50,52,54,56,58, and 60
current size charts are wanted.
Failing that commercial patterns are a substitute for my own but I can't find
them, nor can I find the right address to get into Weights and Measures to
download the charts.
When I make a custom fit for an actor my fit muslin usually ends up as garment
lining ( we are low budget productions here) and besides these are not
standardized; they are custom.
Anybody know the way to the Yellow Brick Road?
Audy.
