Yes, this is another great one and is the earliest profile of the French hood that I've seen (earlier ones are of the transition style just before)--I just didn't know it was online anywhere. Danielle Nunn-Weinberg pointed it out to me.

It does look nice, and is a very good example of that construction. Perhaps you can use the front and just replace the back?

Taking pictures of this made me appreciate why it's so hard to see the details of the backs of French hoods in non-profile paintings--black velvet (and black fabric in general) just doesn't reflect light very well!
