I learned a trick once with hairspray. After you have braided, take hairspray and spray your hand and then smooth it over the braids to hold the stragglers in place without coating the hair. I learned this trick along with using hairspray on water stains on a ceiling tile to seal it before you paint it and spray the edge of satin were you are going to sew a seam to light baste it and keep the satin from slipping.
