I agree.

I hate plastic boning in general (don't use it even on modern stuff.  Never 
tried cable ties, but with steels being so cheap these days dpn't really see 
the point.

As with Suzi, I use a combo of straight and spiral steel and steel busks.  I 
use bolt cutters to cut the steels, and use metal endcaps.
