Ha, thanks to all of the contributions to this post. I am laughing even more
now than I was when I read the original. Very cool info that we would not have
had shared if a *mistake* had not been made.

:)

Subject: Re: [h-cost] A visit from your English major

I could send pages and pages of the same sort of error made by native English
speakers (alas, my COLLEGE students!), and many of them, like this one, are
wonderfully funny (and sometimes weirdly appropriate).
Here's one, from an essay about a man who took broken stained-glass windows
from mausoleums: "As a gesture of good faith Casamassima brought Christmas
wreaths and placed them over every Moslem he stole from."
Another student described a patient in a coma as being in a "vegetarian state."
One said some guidelines proposed by the Air Force Academy would still "allow
non-secretarial prayer at certain ceremonies."
And, for us costumers, one student mentioned that "Madame Trousseau's Waxed
Museum" was an interesting place to visit.
So, Deredere, thank you for a much-needed moment of pleasure, and
congratulations on writing English like a native! ; }
