Sylrog, I too studied with Prof. Russell, just a very few years before he passed away. I love his book and use it as an additional reference in my costume history class. I use the book chosen by my department as our primary book, but the Russell text does so much more to make the connections between what people wore and why they wore it. Studying costume history with Prof. Russell and his book did so much to spark my interest in history in general.

I will be teaching a costume history class at a community college next semester and would like to order textbooks for the students to buy. Cost is really a factor at community colleges, so I was wondering if any of you could recommend a good reasonably priced text. Has anyone used Doug Russell's book before? He was one of my first costume profs and I loved the way he taught. I have 2 of the books he wrote and am tempted to use one of them, as I like it and think it might be less expensive than some others, but I thought I'd get your opinions.
