Shrug.  It's hard to say.  To my knowledge, there aren't really any
archaeological textile finds (as opposed to jewelry and clay tablets) in what was then Mesopotamia.... If I'm wrong, I'd be delighted to hear about it!

I'm not aware of any surviving textile finds -- but there are a _lot_ of surviving artistic representations, including a lot of detailed and realistic 3-dimensional statuary. Deciphering some of the stylized textures can be interesting (especially the "tufted" look), but I wouldn't be at all surprised if an in-depth study could come up with some very plausible theories on construction and materials.
