You can use a french curve or one of those bendable rulers also.

Most of my tape measures are 5/8 inches wide. I lay one edge of the tape
measure against the pattern line and run the pencil along the other edge.
The tape measure can go around a curve for a little of the way, and I keep
shifting it along the edge as I draw.
