I have just returned to the list after 7 years or so.
Does any body know where I can buy silk filament thread. I am
tailoring a suit and prefer using silk thread for it's ability to
sink into the fabric for a flat seam.
I have searched around the SF Bay Area and on the net
but can't find any except one web site that wanted $144. for about a
dozen mixed colors.
What I need is silk filament thread in white,
black, ecru, and maybe maroon. The thread diameter same as typical
polyester thread.
I have a yellowed old Chronicle
article by Sandra Betzina Webster (POWER SEWING)where she praises the
superiority of silk filament over the ordinary silk twist like
Guttermann. It's a long article giving lots of info, but she makes it
seem like it is very common and easily found.
Any ideas?
