I just watched Barry Lyndon, where towards the end, Redmonds mother is wearing a small cap wich is made entirely of a piece of lace wich is gathered into a rosette in the top, and spreading out on the hair all way round. I have not seen this type in any portraits, but i wondered if it would not be very likely someone in 18th century did the same, so simple just gather a lace to a cap? Well its for the red dress i am making, i have promised her to make a wide brimmed silk taffeta hat, but for indoors she could wear this lace frill?
