I am a stay-at-home, homeschooling mom who is also a historical novelist.
Since having been bitten by the theater bug while working at the Theater at
Monmouth (aka the Shakespearian theater of Maine), I became interested in
historical clothing and worked as a costumer for many seasons (pre-kids).
Now, I am working on an Empire gown, circa 1795 - 1805, and hope to finish
it properly before the end of the millennium. I have also made two other
items from Janet Arnold's books: a Spencer and a circa 1940 evening gown.

I am a stay at home mom. I have a BA in Technical Theatre and a Limited
Service Teaching Credential for Calif. Comm. Colleges. I have worked in
community theatre since graduating from college in 1976. Sometimes, I even
got paid! I've done all aspects of theatre over the years-tech, acting,
directing, producing. While I was in a Shakespeare production in 2002, other
members of the cast were talking about Ren Faire. I said I'd always wanted
to participate, but didn't know how. They dragged me along that year and
I've been hooked ever since. For one thing, I get to act a lot more than
when I have a small (okay, TINY) role in a regular show. Plus, I get to
create my own costume.
I've recently started Renaissance dancing lessons. The renaissance dance
lessons are FREE, in Alameda, CA, on Tuesday nights, if any of you would be
interested.
I attend PEERS events, (costumed period dances).
In November-December, I am an actor in The Great Dickens Christmas Fair. I
play Mrs. Nickleby. I put in many hours at my son's school, which has a
parent participation requirement.
And I garden. I've just finished re-doing my front yard. It is now a
tropical jungle.
