My friend Lisa used to do this... but she would sit in a chair and lean over so her head was upside down and then grab her mass of wavy loosely curled hair and swirl it in one direction and clamp it [with a small rubber band for hair] leaving a tuft above long enough to play with. Then when she came right side up it would collapse softly and she'd firmly pin the rubber band on the crown of her head, then she'd arrange the tuft with pins to cover the rubber band. Or, instead of a tuft, she'd make a loop of hair so the ends were lost under it when she carefully pinned it to her crown. Boy...this is hard to explain in words! And I myself cannot make hair do anything. I greatly appreciate people who can do the dos.
