Well, if she took loads of photos, maybe she DID lecture on it. Actually,
you have awakened some memories from over 15 years ago--I think she did
lecture on it, but made no design claims or anything of the sort. (I'm afraid I
have to admit that I hadn't heard of Jean Hunnisett back then, so if she was
mentioned, it wouldn't have meant anything to me.) And it was the Queen
Elizabeth lecture I travelled 200 miles for and then she didn't give it.

It is possible that it was a lecture on "Costume in a Theatrical Context". (not her title). This was something Janet found very interesting, and went frequently to the theatre. She happily suspended disbelief about historical accuracy, something I can do in theatre but not on film! She used to do a lecture on how you could date a movie simply by looking at the costume design, make-up and wigs, and particularly hats. (Gainsborough hats in 16th and 17th century movies were a particular source of amusement, I remember!)

I saw and heard most of the lectures she gave, as she would try them out on us at college, and I would regularly travel to hear her if possible, although not 200 miles! They varied very little, as she had all the slides and notes together, and could just pick up the appropriate one as required. (A treasure trove for someone to inherit - don't I wish that was me?!)
