Please, can we not get into THAT discussion again here?

I am not the list moderator, but...... About every three to six months on this list, someone asks about sharing copies of something, and it leads into an extended exchange of conflicting, passionate posts about what exactly the copyright laws DO say, what they SHOULD say, what's right, what's wrong, what's fair and unfair, legal and illegal..... and it can go on for weeks.

If Ruth Bean as publisher is the copyright owner, first bear in mind that the book was copyrighted under UK law which is not identical to US copyright law. Previous discussions based on US copyright law do not necessarily apply.

Second, if Ruth Bean is the copyright owner, then she has the power to give or withhold permission, and she seems to be right here to ask. Meaning there is no need for an extended discussion.

That does not mean I think copyright discussions are inappropriate merely because you are tired of them, but having the copyright owner right there to ask cuts right to the chase. I assume she knows exactly what she registered for protection under UK law.
