Can I just add that anyone who doesn't have a copy of this marvellous book should really think about getting one as a standard reference if they work on the 16th century, much like Janet Arnold's. I've had my copy for about 8 years now, and it's one of the most useful books I've ever had (and the only good reminder of the ex who bought it for me...). If the house was burning down, I would seriously grab my now- annotated copy as one of the few things I took with me. The more I read it, the more I get out of it and am grateful to the scholarship and care that went into the translation, and making and keeping it available in print. I have a copy of the Spanish reprint, which is interesting for keeping the original format, and for some comments in the introduction, but nowhere near as helpful.

Ok, off my soapbox now. Happy New Year to all.

Hilary

Certainly in most of Europe, and I assume in the USA too, there is no right to offer and distribute copyright material freely to others without permission, even if supplied without charge. We have not authorised any
display of Alcega patterns on line either.

I have a copy of the original copied from microfilm, complete with
waterspots. Unfortunately I loaned it to a friend who hasn't returned
it yet. She says she will have it back within a week, if the mail
allows. We will see.
