I want to give everyone a great big Thank YOU for
helping with this discovery of colored shirts. It has
opened up a new line of thinking on shirts, and given
me another "myth" to find answers to.
While I don't know what those on the Tribe list will
do with all of these great comments, they are now
better informed on this, as am I, than we were before.
And I did find another comment on the red shirt for
the coronation of King Edward VI. There is an entry
for the coronation of King Henry VIII.
"ii Shirtes wherof one shall be of lawne the other of
Crymesyn Tartaryn they bothe largely open behynde and
before & ouer the Shulders & the boughtes of the Armes
and laced with Anlettes of Siluer and gilte. And with
laces Agglett with siluer & gilt."
Dress in the Court of King Henry VIII by Maria
Hayward, pg 44.
Tartaryn from what I understand from online
dictionaries is a type of silk fabric.
Again, thank you all for your help. It was greatly
appreciated.
Kimiko
