Actually, if you just lightly bone the bodice, so it doesn't wrinkle up along the center front and at the back lacings that should be ok. At least for what she seems to want. My first Ren bodice was boned, but I didn't wear a corset/pair of bodies and it worked fine. Does she intend to wear a bra? Maybe try to get her into a sports bra rather than a modern one.
