Ha, I knew you would post it here as well as in other groups (where advertising
is forbidden:-).
My questions about this book are:
- are you planning to sell it through Amazon as well?
I don't know. I don't sell direct to Amazon. Almost all of my bookstore
sales are through by a wholesaler.
- regarding the stays making part - are there instructions on how to draft the pattern from the person's measurements? I kind of didn't get this when reading the table of contents.
The patterning instructions for stays give diagrams of shapes and
directions, but assume the original reader (an amateur dressmaker/stay
maker of the period) had a pair of stays to copy, which she then fitted
and/or altered the style of as necessary. There is a great deal of
step-by step instruction on assembling the stays, including preparing
the whalebones.
- is pattern drafting discussed for other kinds of garments?
There is some material from a period tailor's manual on drafting riding
habits and pelisses, but drafting by measure was considered too
sophisticated for amateurs of the period. The original works do not
even assume the amateur owns a tape measure. They use the
notch-the-folded-strip-of-paper method of body measurement.
- I also didn't understand if fitting a garment is discussed
Yes.
- and if yes, fitting of which garments (stays as well)?
Yes, the fitting of gowns and stays is discussed.
Hope this helps.
