The power dress tie has diagonal stripes in an upward direction as per a favourable graph. Colour was not as important as the strength and blending of the colours. Bolder colours came along in the 1980s. The exact "when" for yellow, red or any other colour may be mappable according to what some prominent person wore on a specific occasion.
