To all who made suggestions about my quilted petticoat - thanks. I had a final fitting with the customer, and am pleased to report that the petticoat worked beautifully. I did take large darts from waist to hem, in the end, as the fabric is stiff and quite bulky and I needed to have as little bulk at the waist as possible. I could have put it on a matching basque, if I could have found matching silk, but that was impossible. However, the customer was delighted, and the silk dress worked perfectly over it.
